Our Work Wear Style

K: Work wear is something that can look completely different from person to person, based on career. As a high school English teacher, I find that my outfits must both be practical and sophisticated. If I'm too dressed down, I end up looking like a high school student; however, if I'm too dressed up, I look out of place in a casual work environment. This blush on blush outfit is a nice combination that manages to be both comfortable and cute.

K: A typical day for me involves standing on my feet for hours at a time. If I do wear heels, they need to have a block heel, not a stiletto shape. Most days, I'll wear flats so that I can avoid aching feet at the end of the day. I am gushing over these Kate Spade loafers. They'd be the perfect piece of pizzaz for this monochromatic look.

B: I am a geologist and although the job sounds formal, it actually constitutes for a very casual work place environment. Many days, employees will wear jeans and a button down shirt. I have an obsession with sport coats and felt like this window pane tweed jacket could be added as a timeless staple to any guy's closet. I would wear the coat to one of our quarterly meetings, not just on an average Monday. However, I have been told not to wear coats in the workplace because coats are a historic indication of interviewing at other places of work. I am actually quite fond of my job, and gladly dress casually to provide others with comfort.

B: A typical work day involves presentations, phone calls, endless hours transfixed upon computer screens, and sprinting from meeting to meeting. Oxfords are a work place must, with Aldo being near the top choice in my mind in terms of comfort, style, variety, and price point. I always carry a backpack or satchel of some sort, mainly for important papers, car keys, chewing gum, and the little bit of food I will eat during a day. Ghurka makes beautiful and rugged fine leather goods and upholds the American made and manufactured product stigma. My bag - now vintage - has lasted year upon year and still feels brand new but carries a classic look.
